President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin of the Republic of Korea

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Head of State emphasized the high dynamics of the Kazakh-Korean trade, investment and technological cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.

“As far as you know, Korea is really much important for us as one of key partners in Asia. We appreciate all developments that take place in our bilateral cooperation. Also, I'm quite happy that the volume of trade has already exceeded 6 billion dollars. But at the same time, there are a lot of opportunities that need to be explored in the future. So, I think this visit is a very good opportunity to exchange views on current international issues. Kazakhstan and Korea have common or close positions on major international issues. I believe we have a lot in common, which brings us together both on the international arena, as well as on bilateral format,” the President noted.

President Tokayev highlighted successful cooperation in the manufacturing of KIA vehicles, the Hyundai factory, the production of ferroalloys and steel, and the Smart Farm project. He also noted that a solid institutional network. One of the key elements is the Kazakh-Korean Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, as well as the Business Council. In this context, the President suggested to fully utilize the potential of these mechanisms.

In turn, the South Korean diplomat conveyed greetings from President Yoon Seok Yeol and reaffirmed the readiness for further deepening of strategic partnership with Kazakhstan, both on a bilateral and regional track.

“I believe that under your outstanding leadership, Kazakhstan will continue with this sustainable economic growth. And also, we support your dedicated efforts for reform. To strengthen in rural law and democracy in Kazakhstan. As your excellency is kind of a nation, we have a rapid development of our partnership ever since we established diplomatic relationship in 1992. And especially after 2009 When we concluded special strategic partnership, so we will move forward to strengthen our relationship. We have been developing close partnership not only in traditional area, but also in new industries such as digital, health and energy and environment. And active some diplomacy between the two countries has been the driving force for the development of bilateral relations,” Park Jin said.

In addition, President Tokayev and Minister Park Jin touched upon the global and regional agenda, as well as interaction within the international organizations.
