During the meeting with the Secretary of the Holy See, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the informative and productive nature of the conversation with Pope Francis.

According to the President, the Vatican's consistent support has helped the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions hosted by Kazakhstan to become an important platform for strengthening mutual understanding and respect among religions.

The President Tokayev mentioned the historic visit of the Head of Catholic Church to our country, which served as a symbol of peace promotion and garnered attention from not only the Catholic community of Kazakhstan but also other religious groups in the region.

He noted that Kazakhstan attaches special importance to strengthening ties with the Holy See in the fields of education, health care and the fight against climate change.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Archbishop Gallagher for allowing Kazakh researchers to study historical materials from the Vatican Library and the Papal Archives free of charge. He also appreciated the collaboration between the National Research Centre for Maternal and Child Health and the Vatican's Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan's dedication to promoting inter-ethnic and inter-confessional harmony in order to strengthen peace, harmony, and mutual respect.

The Head of State also extended an invitation to the leadership of the Holy See to participate in the upcoming Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana.
